Monograph on SCADA

This e-monograph on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) has been written by Prof. H.K. Verma on the basis of his experience of teaching this subject for several years at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Sharda University, Greater Noida, and designing several SCADA systems for real-life projects.

Although the term SCADA was coined in mid-1960’s, the SCADA technology received serious attention of hardware manufacturers, software developers and application engineers only after 1980 or so. In today’s industrial scenario, almost every process industry and public utility has either already adopted, or plans to adopt, SCADA technology for monitoring and control of their processes. Thus the SCADA technology is of wide current interest and has a great future.

The SCADA technology is in fact a collection of several established technologies, including the process instrumentation and control, information communication technology (ICT), data networks and security, and software engineering. This e-monograph presumes that the reader has some basic knowledge of these disciplines. Portable document format (PDF) has been used for the monograph.

This 2017-edition of the monograph on SCADA comprises four chapters as under:

Chapter-1: Basics of SCADA (2017)

Chapter-2: Functions of SCADA System (2017)

Chapter-3: Hardware of SCADA System (2017)

Chapter-4: Network Technologies Deployed in SCADA Systems (2017)
